It’s been a long wait but it’s finally here! The official lineup for Glastonbury 2015 was released via the festivals Twitter page yesterday (14th April) and includes previously announced headliners Foo Fighters and Kanye West, but the organisers are yet to reveal who the third and final headliner will be. The image reveals artists such as Hozier, Florence and the machine, George Ezra, The Vaccines, The Maccabees, Jamie T, Mark Ronson and many more.
Many are still speculating who the final headliner will be, and so far there has been no hint of an answer, but it can be expected to be revealed soon. Rumours of a possible Oasis reunion may be on the cards as Liam Gallagher’s ‘Beady Eye’ came to an end recently and the bands 20th anniversary is constantly being talked about. Speaking to the Rolling Stone in 2011, Liam said:
“In 2015, if we can put our shit aside, we can tour and play the album in its entirety for the 20th anniversary,” he says. “I’d be up for that, if it’s on our terms. There’s got to be two-way respect.“
The rumours may well just be hopeful wishing as both Gallagher brothers notoriously have a bad relationship and have publicly spoken ill of each other and the band, but time will tell. Speaking at the NME awards earlier this year, whilst collecting Best International Band Award, Foo Fighters announced they would be headlining and was met with a positive response, which unfortunately didn’t stretch to fellow headliner Kanye West. According to NME, over 100,000 people have signed a petition in order for Kanye to NOT headline the festival. However, they also report that, according to festival organiser Emily Eavis, only four more requests for ticket refunds were made that week compared to the last. Kasabian, Arctic Monkeys, The Rolling Stones, Mumford and Sons, Arcade Fire and Metallica, are amongst those who have walked out on the famous pyramid stage in recent years, but how do you think this years additions follow? Opinions are divided as festival-goers took to twitter to vent their opinions.
So what do you think? Good lineup? Bad? How do you feel about Kanye West headlining? Let me know in the comments below!
